This site, also from the Cornell Lab of Ornithology, has great information about all kinds of birds including how to identify songs. They have a fun game called Bird Song Hero that helps you learn to listen to bird songs.
This site also has a bird guide as well as a Get Outside tab that includes an Activities and DIY section and a Photography section.

DIY BIRD FEEDERS
For some very simple bird feeders you can make with things you probably have around the house, try happyhooligans.ca and do a search for bird feeders.

Youtube has many, many videos that show how to make a variety of bird feeders.
